Paper collage on painted birch panel
3 panels: 12 X 12 X 1 5/8 inches
Human activity has been such a destructive force on our world’s water from overuse, pollution, lack of infrastructure, and changing weather patterns due to climate change. My paper collage "World's Water" illustrates three distinct water "moods" on the Earth: (1) Excessive rainfall increases water levels (2) Seaweed like giant kelp captures carbon from ocean water and produces oxygen, removing enough carbon dioxide to relieve acidification and higher than normal PH levels (3) Frozen iceberg chunks in the Arctic, which act like giant ice cubes and reflect heat back into space are important, but if they all melt will surge sea levels everywhere.
